Hostile Acquisition follows Jean Parker, a brilliant, obscenely wealthy businessman whose charm masks a cold obsession with profit, and Artemis, an ancient extraterrestrial traveler who has spent centuries avoiding attachment. Jean sees Artemis as the greatest discovery—and business opportunity—in human history. Artemis sees Jean as everything he despises about humanity: greedy, arrogant, invasive, and dangerously persistent. What begins as a calculated pursuit quickly becomes an intellectual arms race.
